About Us

The Museum

The purpose of the African American Heritage Museum is to tell the story of African Americans in all their permutations:  family life, Civil Rights movement, arts and entertainment, inventions, sports, medicine, architecture, politics, religion, law, and technology.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to preserving, maintaining and educating the public on the history of African American ancestors in the State of Louisiana and Tangipahoa Parish in collaboration with other entities of cultural interest throughout the United States of America and abroad through artistic endeavors.

Louisiana African American Trail

We are proud to recommend the Louisiana Office of Tourism African American Trail for more information about our heritage and culture.
